The Basics

Subject: A person, place, or thing. The object or thing you want the silly sentence to be about.

Predicate: States the state or action that the subject is in or performing. The act that a Person or Object is doing that makes the sentence funny.

On this site, randomly contributed versions of each don't always match tenses. They can differ in a few ways: "person" tense (ie first, second, or third), "time" tense (ie past, present, or future), and the number of subjects. For these, you'll have to use your imagination.

Examples

Good subjects: “Madonna’s new African Baby”, “Before having sex, Paris Hilton”, “Your mom’s ass”
So-So subjects: "My Uncle"
Poor subjects: "He", "She", "It"
Not a subject: “Running in circles”, “Dreaming in Spanish class”

Good predicates: “Just can’t get enough of Dick Cheney”, “Used me for cheap sex”
So-So predicate: “Ran away screaming”
Poor predicates: “Drank”, “Sang”
Not a Predicate: “Your hair”, “My Boyfriend's butt”
